10/365 Stepping Towards Fitness

Devin and I started our exercise programme today.  I want to build my cardio-vascular fitness and walk off some Christmas chocolates.  Devin is working towards his latest goal of being fit enough to join the Air Force.  He changes his mind about career options on a fortnightly basis at the moment - which is totally ok with me.  That backpack contains 10kg of extra weight (he weighed it himself) - he told me that by the time he's ready to join the AIr Force he'll need to be able to run with 20kg extra on his back.  Got to admire a teen with goals.

  1. Sweet - You have to admire that determination and commitment - tell him the extra 10kg I carry on a walk unfortunately is not in my backpack - haha

  2. This picture is a fantastic symbolism of goal setting and working towards them! Love the angle :)

  3. @anneken - he he he neither is mine ;)
@Claire - You've just made me think that maybe I should use it to introduce goal setting with my class. I like the angle too (it also proves he was racing up those steps way faster then me)!

  4. Great pic! It definitely would be a great visual for your kids... good story that they could connect with too! :)

  5. Well I am both impressed with the pic [for goal setting and angle] but am WELL impressed with the teenager - carrying 10 kg extra is a hell of a lot and working towards 20kg is a mammoth! Good on him and all power to him!

  6. Very admirable determination! And if he changes his mind again he still benefits from the exercise - win win! I couldn't afford to carry a 10kg backpack - not with all the other "backpacks" I'm already carrying!
